I left my heart....

I Left My Heart…

Killing time waiting for prescriptions to be phone in and filled, I decided to go to the Avi. It’s an Indian casino on the shore of the Colorado River and you can get a dog and a beer for a buck, plus lie on the beach, if nobody asks what room you are in. I quietly wondered whom I would meet that needed some encouragement and chose to  leave my Gospel of John in the car. I could come back…Quick prayer for being in touch with the Holy Spirit.  I was going in with minimal supplies. AVI card, a few bucks and an appetite. When you wan a hot dog, you want a hot dog and theirs are plump and juicy. I ain’t getting skinnier, by the way. Taylors keep me well fed. I’ll work out tomorrow.

After I polished off the hot dog, I made my way past one of the lounges enroute to the pool/beach area and overheard Tony Bennett – Must be a recording or someone is warming up for an evening show. I decided to peek in and see this handsome hunk on stage, crooning to many of he old favorites that my parents (all four of them) would sing. This guy has a voice! The crowd was about what you could count on one hand and I listened to him for a good part of an hour. The warm beach was calling so I went out, took a power nap, made a sand angel and headed back in. His voice drew me in again….

At the end of his several hours behind the mic, he asked the dozen or so folks if he could take a break. He has some neuropathy from a cancer he had in his foot and thanks to God, he proclaimed that he has been spared. They had given him 8 weeks to live.. Hmmm. I wanted to know more.

He came down into the lounge area and was telling his story to a couple and I butted in to say “I want to know what God did.” Well, he and I talked for quite awhile… He’s very grateful. Changed his life. Mark O ‘Toole is a new man, grateful. True, he is easy on the eyes, for sure! Well, he wanted to show me a photo on his phone that was taken in Hawaii recently/ He had a friend die from AIDS and went to pay tribute. He said he always felt a certain presence anytime he went over to the islands. The photo he showed me was amazing. It was just him and this shaft of light just adjacent to him, from head to toe and about as wide. It was the second photo taken as his mistakenly deleted the first one, which was of him but there were dots of light all around him. He looks at me. “What do you think it is?”  Uh-Like I know? I don’t know.

I asked if he attends church and he doesn’t but is eager to work on his relationship with God. Hence, the open door question “Can I give you a gift of the Gospel of John?” He was enthusiastic about it. He gave me his card, asked me to get in touch wih him on FACEBOOK.

I told him I thought it was Tony Bennett singing. He blushed. The story I relayed to him was about finding my birth family 7 years ago and though my mother is deceased, she loved to sing and would entertain the troops in SF. My sister and I went to see Tony sing a few years ago and she looked at me and said all teary-eyed, “Our mother must be looking down on us so amazed. If only she were here!”
He gets up on stage and the audience is about 25 people by now and says “I want to dedicate this song to Susan.”   You guessed it…
When he got to the well known phrase, “I left my heart in San Francisco…” I couldn’t keep the tears back. I miss my mother, my sister…part of me is certainly still there.
Mark did an incredible performance on the song, looking at me like we were the only two in the room. A true crooner! He apologized after it was over saying “Sorry I couldn’t get the higher notes but it’s hard when I get choked up.”  He winked and smiled at me… my mascara was probably all over my face by now. My heart melted down into my shoes. I was like butter.

Sweet.

I hurried out to the 4 Runner and brought him back the Gospel of John.. the best gift I can give him. He was singing but had the bartender hand it to him and he put it on his table..If you think of it, pray for the handsome, talented Mark O’Toole who has been clearly given a second chance. He made a pact with the LORD that he would sing in children’s hospitals and old folks homes if God spared his life and He did. Mark can’t much feel his feet so it’s an item for prayer. He has a CD coming out next month. Yep. I
will be looking for it!

Ya never know what a day will bring. It was a good day, a good dog, a good song and a fine man. In more ways than one! Ha!
Go get ‘em, Mark. One step at a time.

An Afernoon on Highway 95

11/12/10
Please pardon my writing if I have omitted a ‘T’… My laptop is falling apart and the T gets stuck. Ugh!

Usually I spend a wee bit of time praying before going out into a day, asking he LORD to lead me to people I can share Him with and to help me be attentive to their needs. I did have a special prayer that I would know more about a pain specialist I saw twice this week. He had some legal trouble in 2005 that made the news and he cooperated with authorities, blew the whistle on a medical fraud ring and recieved immunity. His license to practice was pulled and I just hope he’s an excellent physician now. I’m sure he’s paid that price a million times over. I never know what or whom I shall encounter on my outings but I DO know it’s almost always interesting.Take yesterday for example…

The major road I live near is one long strip of desert highway (95) and there are hundreds of businesses along each side. I have to keep a keen eye out for a place I may want to patronize. It’s hard paying attention as the speed limit is 55 (or something like that) so folks whiz past the dusty red 4 Runner, filled with wagging tails who think and hope to Doggie God that there must be a dog park among the store fronts and parking lots. All eyes are peeled. I look for words like ‘Spa’, ‘Baptist Church’, ‘Laundromat’.  To each his own.

I had several errands to do and the one little library and post office are just up the road so that one is easy. Side by side. I pop into the library and talk to Avis, the librarian. I met her the previous week and noted that I know one more Avis who was a librarian. How odd is that? Do you know any Avis librarians? Maybe it’s a pattern.

I turned in a few DVDs (you’ve gotta watch ‘The Curious Life of Benjamin Button’ and “Fireproof’ ) and wanted more since the price fits my budget perfectly. I recognize the man standing next to me at the DVD rack as an internist who was at a presentation I attended the previous evening on a Pain Pacemaker. It a unit implanted that can interfere with pain messages going from the spinal cord to the brain. Relief may be in sight.

I introduce myself to both he and his wife. He has a British/Aussie accent so I prod a bit to find out he is actually from San Diego but lived in the UK for awhile and is now laden with the Queen’s English. I have never met anyone who took it up like that. He’s a cheery chap, blond rustled hair, straight and strong posture, outgoing like an Aussie. His wife speaks Arizonian and is a bit plain compared to him. I’m sure she was hovering for a reason. Ha!

He asked what I was doing at the seminar and I told him Dr. Venger had recommended I attend. He quickly commented “He’s brilliant! Truly! Quiet a gifted and intelligent neurosurgeon!”  Really? I asked. I don’t want to be placated. He assured me. Good. Turns out they are people of faith. Curiously, though. As he put it, “LDS, Mormons and born-again Christians.”  Really? We chatted about that for a bit and who Joseph Smith was and who Jesus Christ, the only Savior of our souls is…Interesting people. Warm and kind.
So, off to the Valley View Hospital to talk to the finance department about payment plans since Dr. Venger wants me to have x-rays and MRI… Gotta pay my deductable, then squeeze blood out of the turnip. I had spoken with a receptionist the night before and she referred me to her boss, who referred me to Becky C. I must say it is very humbling to ask for a break but I know hospitals are willing to help out. After discussing the fees with Becky C., I decided to have the MRI off site at a place called “Wide Open Imaging”. For some reason, I can’t recall their name and my first inclination is to call it “Open Casket”.. I crack myself up. I have it written down so I don’t sound stoopid.

The cost of the MRI at Valley View is $2800 and the cost at Open Casket is $500. Duh. I have to pay 20%. But the point of this is that as we talk, she had the same area of the neck fused by Dr. Venger! C 4 to 7. She said he is a great surgeon and she was very pleased. Had the surgery done in Las Vegas where he had his practice several years ago.  She still has cervical pain and now has problems in her low back, sciatica. I told her about the Pain Pacemaker and she was going to give him a call. Nice how that works. Turns out she is a Believer and attends a little Baptist church just around the corner from the hospital. Bible study on Weds nights. They had a revival and it was a packed house. People need the LORD. We are praying for each other. Sweet. She needs prayer. I could see the pain in her face. She said (like so many others) that pain has affected her marriage as her husband doesn’t understand. Yes, I know. It can be very hard on people closest to us.

As an aside, the night before at the Pain Pacemaker seminar, I purposefully visually checked out the audience. I counted about 45 people, many (if not all) older than I. Some came alone, some with a spouse. One veteran had gotten his leg blown off in Vietnam. I shook his hand warmly and was glad I had worn an American flag shirt in tribute to Veteran’s Day. God love him. Some folks came in bent over their walkers, but most ambulated in. First time I had been in a room full of people with chronic pain. All hoping this works. He’s put in 1500 and very few haven’t had some relief.

Now here’s the funny part…As the presentation came to a close, an elderly man got up and said in a loud voice “Doc, I’ve gotta go! My back is killing me!” Several others chimed in and I had to chuckle given the nature of the audience. They should’ve passed out pain pills with the cookies and soft drinks. “These cookies have Vicodin, macadamia nuts and M & Ms.”  About half of the group hobbled out of the room, the other half wincing, adjusting their bodies, rubbing sore spots to keep listening to what could be a way to reduce our pain challenge area. Two folks gave testimony. One man had his Pacemaker put in way back in 1992 and is still so happy. Another woman test drove the apparatus for 7 days and is awaiting approval for the permanent one.. She couldn’t stop grinning. She’s had pain for two years. Pain can be so challenging to live with.I’ve had it since 1970 in various intensities. It changes lifestyles, relationships, emotions and can certainly deepen our faith, if we let it. Bitter or better. Turns out Dr. Venger put one in Jerry Lewis when Jerry was suicidal. Saved his life, according to Lewis. I checked it out on a Larry King Show replay. This may be just what I am looking for. Hope is on the horizon.

So, back to the people of my Friday ~ I left Becky’s office to check for get x-rays at the hospital and as I was waiting, I spent some time reading the  2 books of the Bible; Ezekial and Hebrews, focusing on how God feels and deals with sin in a nation and individual. I am aware of  the TV in the background and it’s Oprah (naturally) who is interviewing an audience of 200 men who had been molested as children. Breaks my heart…Same thing I am reading about.  Sin. Self. Judgement,. Mercy. The Cross.

My x-rays get snapped and I smiled really pretty for the camera. I am sent out to the waiting room and the constantly on flat screen TV to wait for them to give me a copy. INSIDER is on and they are interviewing Cher. The host is reading down a list of male Hollywood stars to her and she is saying whether or not she had sex with them and some she elaborated on – “Only once.” Or ‘It was really good!”.. I am disgusted and see there are two young children with their mother watching this garbage on TV.. I make a comment about the USA going to down the tubes morally.

Next to me sits a small gray-haired Polish man who encourages me to write to the station. We talk. He was four years old during the war, his mother and he had to hide since they were Jewish. He said he remembers going past an open grave and watching the soldiers open fire on crowd of people who fell into a large pit in the ground. He’s rubbing his sore knee as he speaks of memories 70 plus years ago. His eyes are distant, pained. They visited the site four days later and you could see the ground moving because some people were not dead. He noted with teary eyes that people in this country do not appreciate the freedom and blessings they have. Yes. I agree. We part ways with a long handshake. I’m praying for his heart and knee to heal.

So, what do I know? Looks like Dr.Venger is a good and knowledgeable physician. Pain is pain, anyway you cut it and it affects us deeply. Our country is in need of revival. I have no idea what you think about as you read this but I’m sure the people of your days can be meaningful, if you ask and seek God’s purpose for your encounters.

Well, I’ve gotta head out and get to the Laundromat. See what the day has to offer.
Better get prayed up. Don’t want to miss anything. What will Higway 95 bring us today? Maybe a dog park after all?

Warm, good days..

Finally I have fixed my Internet connection and can write more. IT took the computer guy about 1 1/2 minutes to click on this and that and there ya go. I am hooked into a neighbor's service and you can't beat the price. $5 a month. Wahoo. Verizon was $60 and they don't serve this wee little pocket of the US.

So, life at the Taylor Ranch is good and fine. It's warm, usually up in the 70-90 range and though it can be cool at night, it's not damp, snowing, fixin' to storm or any of that nonsense that wrecks havoc with my body.
My hands don't hurt much and my knees aren't nearly as sore. My neck is till pretty messed up and I am seeing a pain specialist just up the road.. Hoping he can help me get better relief. We'll see. He was a neurosurgeon and messed up his shoulder so he can't do those long surgeries anymore. I'll know more in a few days.

Last Friday was nice and hot here so we took the motor boat down river to "The Gorge" and it is so bee-utiful. you can't believe it. Filled with interesting peaks and fractures of rock and formations. We found a tiny beach big enough for Dean, Judy and I and our picnic stuff and rested up until the sun went behind a ridge.
The speed limit is about 5 mph so it's nice and quiet. Dean hooted and the echo rebounded four times! It was a great day. We made it back to the landing in Needles just before it was too dark. It did get a bot chilly on the river once the sun went down. We saw a water snake, heron, hawk and a very large fish of some sort.

So, Iam adusting to being an Arizonian - Got my driver's license and license plates. Found a pharmacy, Mexican market, casino (for cheap breakfasts!), hair salon...and I am church hunting. We live out in the countryside and there are roosters, barking dogs, goats and cows, horses and crows. I enjoy Dean and Judy everyday and feel so blessed to be here. They are  most gracious and alot of fun. Fun is therapeutic. God knows I need it!

The LORD is good and faithful...
Until next post. I have a few stories to compose.

The Ark has landed...

Just a brief news cast from Mohave Valley. The ARK has finally landed! Guess we've put in about 2000 miles and praise God, we all made it. Adventures, yes! Blessings, yes! Leaks, YES! Today's leak was laundry detergent under he bunk! How do you soak that up?? A least it is a clean Ark.. I decided ha he money I am putting into her is for restoration.. Hahaha! The big girl hung with the Big Boys on the road and hauled butt across the desert....Thank you for prayin'...He is good.

Now I am missing Cuatro, my black cat who made it all the way here. She'll come 'round shortly, I'm sure.
We thank you for your prayers. Stories to follow in a day or two but for now, I'm blessing God for His kindness and Deano and Joody Taylor for welcoming all of us! Oh, i was 91F here today and my hands don't hurt!

Time to rest and relax..

Drinkin' from my saucer

The Ark made it successfully to a sunny day, finally! Phewie! Millerton Lake State Recreation Area is a wonderful place and suits us'ns just fine! The KOCH BEARS are great hosts and it's always a welcomed sight to see family. I wanna grow up and be like them.. always have, always will.

If you haven't been here, it's a lovely and peaceful reservoir and during this time of year, it's rather low, of course but the scenery is dramatically d with boulders and leveled shoreline.. The campground is quiet and replete with a resident owl, lots of birds, mountain lion, bobcat and raccoons.
I'm unsure as to the elevation but I'd guess between 1500 and 2500 ft. max.

The Bears and I squeezed into the ARK to celebrate not only being together but Millie's 5th bday. We all had pumpkin pie and ice cream. .Isaac nearly dove head first into the ice cream - He loves a good party.  I watched a DVD last night that the Bears loaned me - "Paulie" - About a talking conure and little girl. I don't know if it was supposed to happen, but I got teary-eyed several times and had some great laughs. Picture me laying on my bed wih my laptop on my knees - Isaac sat on my chest and spent half the time watching the DVD and half watching me. WHen I'd laugh, so would he... THAT in itself was prety funny. Anyway, it's a cute movie and I recommend it for a light evening of entertainment.. Isaac liked it.

We attended the Trinity Presbyterian Church today, one of the Koch's fav fellowships and I can see why. The worship was excellent, the message powerful and the coffee and donuts worth the drive. No, really... One of the benefits of being on the road is getting to meet Believers from all around the country and experiencing worship together. IT is a 'sweet aroma' as the Scripture says. I know God just loves it when we gather. I hope your Sunday was just as great. Don't know how it could be - We had Subway sandwiches, great fellowship and watched the birds, the sunshine shimmer on the lake and just enjoyed the pure beauty of the day and being together. I'm drinkin' from my saucer 'cause my cup overflowed...http://www.mamarocks.com/drinking_from_my_saucer.htm

Two nights here is not enough but that's how it goes. I'll be pulling up the anchor tomorrow morning and heading closer to our destination where the report is that it is about 80-90 F! Not sure I'll go all the way but we'll give it a good try.

Check out this online radio station http://www.ktlf.org/showplayer.htm  Keeping The Lord First (KTLF)
Great easy listening Christian music with few interruptions.

Time doesn't fly when you are freezing!

Well now... I spent most of the week at the Deaver's Ranch in north Redding and though their hearts are warm and welcoming, as of Tuesday, the weather turned and it's been so cold, so wet that I had to flee today. I'm one of those late snowbirds, I guess but I am seeing others on the road so I don't feel too stoopid. I was waiting on THE CHECK, you know, like senior citizens do - but couldn't hold out any longer. Off we go on the next leg of our adventure.

Tonight the ARK is off I5 near the 12 Lodi turnoff and it looks promising for us to go to Millerton Lakes, east of Fresno for two nights and spend precious time with our Bears (Anne and Bernie Koch). Loooong time extended family. They are campground hosts and live in their RV den..Then off to Mohave Valley Monday.

All did well today, kitties in respective places and dogs eager to hit the highway. No leaks. Nothing new broke. I'll write a story about Jason Deaver that touched my heart but I ain't writin' tonight because I'm pooped. Had a meal with my papa at Woodland. He's very sweet and it was good to hug him goodbye. We will probably meet up in Las Vegas would be my guess. He loves to travel.

So, goodnight for now. I'm a heat seeking missile on cruise control.
The LORD bless,,,

Happy full moon to you!

Traditions. Hmmm. Not many in my life. As a family, we didn't use the phrase "We always....." because the "We always..." wouldn't be filled in with good, happy, all American things during my childhood. Since I am rewriting the script, I can fill in my own blanks.
I always take two poopy bags with me when I go out on a walk with the dawgs. Smart thinking, Waller.
I always rip the CPAP (sleep apnea) machine off my schnozzola after a minimum of four hours of having it velcroed to my face straps.Ugh!I am struggling with that one!
I always have a good laugh with Patty Anne Regalia. A light of my life!
I always love to hug a good and fine friend or family, real or extended, adopted or blood. . Anywhere, anytime, any country. Bring it on! Even from a certain black Lab named "Millie Waller"....
I (almost) always order either BLT or French Dip sandwiches, as did my birth parents, so it's genetic?
I always love the smell of a horse. (I originally accidentally typed in 'hearse'.. watch it, Waller!)
I always look forward to singing with the Bears (Anne and Bernie 'Bear' Koch) "Happy Full Moon to you" even when we are miles apart (and ONCE when we were together and walked up Ski Village Dr in Mt Shasta!) and toasting, whatever happens to be onboard at the time! Tonight they are at Beale AFB and I am at the R Ranch in frigid weather with that crisp autumn moon rising over the ridge, shrouded in scant clouds, having broken free from the rain we experienced earlier. It's a special time between us, one that I relish and it touches me deeply. A monthly celebration of a nonchanging natural event and a relationship that just grows more deeply by the decade.  I has risen over Mt Shasta, high ridges in Washington, in the Outback Down Under..we are never far apart at that moment. Even if we can't call. "Cheers, Bears, here's to ya. 1,2,3", we say. That means  'I love you.' I know you love me and that makes all the difference in my night, especially during them lonely times. I always know that when I encounter a Bear, it will be a time of spiritual uplifting, of iron sharpening iron.

Way back in 1979, I lived with them and found out that quickly that evening meals is a precious chunk of time during which we would come to the table with things to share about what God is doing , what we are questioning, what we are challenged with. Oft times the three of us would sit until 9 pmish  (their girls would be studying for high school) but we would be mulling over spiritual matters. That's the Bears for ya. Loving, listening, caring.
So, wrap that all up in a sweet package tonight and toast the full moon, the Bears, the adventure we are on for the sake of Christ.
I will always toast the rising of the full moon and all it resembles for me,for us, for here, for eternity. Cheers, Bears. 1,2,3...

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood

The Klamath River mosies (sp?) along peacefully, rarely changing it's flow levels. The shallow current is truly hypnotic and it would be easy to just watch it go by all day and do nothing.  It makes for good pondering, if you catch my drift. LOL!  At least I didn't snore, falling asleep at the shore. Sorry, LORD it's not that I am uninterested in the daily reading, it's just that.. well, it was warm, quiet and lulled me to just close my eyes for a sec. ~

Our days consist of very little. Reading both Scripture and leisure materials, catching up on some filing, going up to the Lodge and watching some sports on TV with whomever happens to be around, working out some, walking the dogs two, three times a day with ONE MANDATORY LAB SWIM per day.... Yesterday she thought I threw something in the river because she couldn't find the piece of shredded rag anywhere else so off she goes, floating down the river! I saw this bobbing black head out there in the fastest part of the current! I hope my lifesaving skills will not be necessary. You didn't know that about me, did you? Yes. By some act of God back in 1977 or so, I was certified while attending CSU Chico. My instructor tried to drown me as I brought her to the surface and relaxed my grip for a nano-second. Then we both went under... Sue Porter was her name. I think it was Lt. Col. Sue Porter or something like that. She was built like a brick.. I wasn't. End of story. Somehow I passed. Felt like passing out. I drank half the Olympic size pool to save her and get my five credits. One thing I can say about myself - I am determined.

So, the trees here are vibrant with reds, oranges and yellows. Some already fallen leaves sound like applause as they blow away in the refreshing wind that came up yesterday noon. Dried out and crackling. Ah, the seasons change as do our lives. I meet folks here from Long Beach, CA and they have a reunion of lifeguards, CHPS, firefighters..all public servants. Nice folk. They skedaddle before the flakes fly, aas will I. I think. I'm scheduled for departure around the 30th - 1st of Nov. I saw the forecast and it called for snow showers next week about Weds. I must have Post Traumatic Snow Disorder because I felt myself bristling immediately. I'll peel out rubber in the middle of the night if I must! Anything but snow, anything... Anything? Well, almost. I have my moral limits. I must say my barometric finger is hot so I know that something is up.

Last night Ms B (Bev Day) made the trek up here to wine and dine me at the Fish Hook Cafe just up the road a piece. Great quaint cafe. Danielle (Danny) has been there for years and informed us of the NO on Measure G scuffle. It opposing the removal of several upstream dams that produce hydroelectric power and prevent flooding of the area where I am contentedly sleeping every night. It will wipe out the R Ranch Klamath and Cottonwood area., many homes and businesses that people work hard for the money..No compensation at this point. Just destroy the dams and let 'er rip... It will provide jobs for awhile - Like all of us can run heavy equipment? Yeah, right... There is some kind of argument about the fish and how happy or unhappy they will be. All I know is that I am lovin' it up here. It's peaceful and serene. You are most welcomed as a guest. It'll be ten years before they pull the plug. Measure G is just a public opinion poll and has no real weight. The County Board of Supers is opposing it.  We got an earful from Danny. I can see why. Anywho, patronize the Fish Hook. It's charming. Right on the river. I've heard the 2 fer NY steak is great. They Bar B i right there. I had a decadent grilled ham and cheese and a hefty glass of Merlot, topped off with a little ice cream Sunday. Ms B had a burger and was licking her fingers, if that is any indication. Gotta love the simpler things in life.

We (Mill n' Moe and I) are hoping to do a little hiking this afternoon and I may go shooting at the range and see if I can hit some clay pigeons for the first time in my life. I'm a decent shot, nicknamed "Annie Oakley' more than once. That's another two stories for ya. We'll see what happens here. It's not windy today so that is advantageous. Laundry duties call, too but I may wait until it rains and I HAVE to be inside. I raisd homing pigeons once. Didn't know that about me, did ya? That's another story, too. Guess I have some writing to do.

BOOK recommendation: 'Saved By Her Enemy' by Rafraf Barrak, a  translator in Iraq and Don Teague, an NBC Correspondent. Eye opening to the plight of translators in Iraq. It's encouraging to see what God can do with well intentioned people to help one soul. Praise God....

That's it for now. Taking it pretty easy for the first time in eons. Wish you were here..If it's warm where you are, wish I was there. It's not too cold here today but somethin' a comin'....
From us to you, wags and whistles, purrs and prayers.

Cats ahoy! Cows off the starboard side...

One might wonder what the three felines do when we are rollin' down the highways and biways. Well, we've added my Cinco (Stinko) cat to our collection. She was staying at my house to see if she would get along with the renter's cats since I didn't think she would get along in a smaller space with my two kitties, Cuatro and Kikipeepee. As we took off from the NIle Farm in Mt Shasta, I put all three in the loo and closed the door. I knew Cuatro would go in her usual spot, inside the kitty litter igloo. Typically, Kiki usually just sleeps on the bed but I didn't want to take any chances.

When I stopped to check on them, she was watching out the window at every stop to see where we were. The new addition, Cinco (Amelia Earhart is her aka since she loves heights) managed to squeeze into the tiniest compartment behind the toilet. This is the place #4 found when we hit the highway during our first expedition so I blocked it off with a hardback Jim Harriet book - You would know him as the veterinarian who treated animals in Scotland and wrote 'All Creatures Great and Small." Well, I could rename it "All Kitties Great and Small" because Cinco squeezed in there! I saw her get out with no more effort than Houdini look-alikes as they do on these talent shows, bending and twisting in abnormal ways that people should be locked up for doing. The problem is you can't lock them up. Same goes for the cat. So, she has to be kept under strict scrutiny and I have to double check the doors and windows when I go in and out.

Several years ago when I adopted Cuatro (my black feline), she had been at the shelter for about 5 -6 months and was so accustomed to living in the small cage that she was in my bedroom for two weeks before she volunteered to come out. It was then about ten days in the house before going out and NOW LOOK AT HER! World traveler! She is about ten years old and enjoying the trips. She's doing great. She's not really ken on giong out thoough she did a few times at Nile's. It's much more safef in the ARK and she gets three squares a day with a little tuna thrown in on special occasions. SHe sleeps under the covers on my bed during the day. Watch where you sit because that slight lump may easily be her!

My youngest cat, #5 is learning the ropes. She does however wants out at night and I might just let her out at the R Ranch. After being at the Nile Farm, I'm fairly certain she won't run off but she gets the itch and last night she kept plucking at the blinds hoping I would let her out at the emergency exit above my head! Ugh! We had words. Then she has he gall to sleep all day... Ho hum!

Gotta tell you about Moe and Millie's favorite cow ! If you are a local, you know all about Moo Donna, the metallic replica of a cow. She is just alongside of Interstate 5 in a field and is in the act of mooing with her head upwards and pointing towards the freeway. She's been there for years and is always dressed up for some occasion or festivity. My dogs always see her a few miles off and in starts the tail wagging, peering through the front windshield, whining and soon howling-type noises that are saved for specifically one special bovine. They watch her out the back window until she is out of sight and I confess, I wave at her and often call my sista Michelle in Colorado so we can share the moment. And no, I am not eccentric.

Well, it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and if NFL players can wear pink shoes, and gloves etc. then our Moo Donna can wear pink socks and a bonnet, too. I had seen her a few days earlier and made a mental note to get a photo next trip. Well, all of us are in the ARK and I wanted a photo so I slowed the ARK down to a stop behind another car who had the same idea. I am not only 30 feet long with the ARK alone but also, let's add on the Beehind Runner and tow hitch so...about 45' total.. No cars coming so it's a good time to take a photo and Moe and Mill are ecstatic to get this close to their cow! Let's do it.

I had the camera ready and with all the excitement two tail waggers could muster, I got a shot or two of the silly cow and flipped off my flashers, put on the blinker and headed out slowly only I momentarily forgot just how wide we can be and (thank God the other car had fled the scene) we headed straight for one of those posts that stick up on the freeway, probably to keep people like me ON THE ROAD - Well, we flattened it, I'm sure. I won't tell you what word I said but I told Isaac not to repeat it. I got off at Easy Street and checked for any damages - Remember the ARK is a 1992 model and probably good and sturdy - It already had some pretty good dings on it, as does the Beehind Runner but I was most interested in making sure nothing was leaking (my favorite word) be it oil, radiator fluid or air out of a tire or two or three. Both vehicles looked sound and just as roughed up as before the post met it's Maker. Now I could say "Thank You, LORD!" I keep them guardian angels busy, don't I? ARK ANGELS... That's what they are. Get it?

So, we finally made it to the lovely R Ranch in Hornbrook. Now you know why it takes us all afternoon (that was after getting another new battery for the Ark at Les Schwab Tire where I get frequent flyer miles, stopping at Raley's, Easy Street and Moo Donna.) to go just about 50 miles up the road. We'll stay here for a bit and relax... Come on up. We'll leave the light on for ya. The only thing moving is the river. You are safe with us.... when we are all fast asleep.

Oct 18th... Monday 12 15 am

Sorry for not writing more often and I am sure you are waiting with baited breath! Hmmm. I have a few stories rolling about in my head and I am just looking for quiet time to write when an ancient cat isn't sitting on the keyboard or something isn't leaking, setting off an alarm, shutting off or having to go outside to go 'potties'... Tonight my parrot "isaac D'BByrd" and I wento outside to hoot with owls. He's never heard it and gave it one good try. Nothing came in to mate so I'm not sure he has the touch..
Oh, the responsibilities of Ms Noah. Far reaching indeed.

Just a quick note to let you know I am heading NORTH again (Lord's will) and not south. Sista Patty Anne's father in the Bay area took sick and is in a bad way so my trip to Santa Rosa is nixed. OK, two weeks to do what? Might as well go north to the R Ranch (50  miles north) and recoup, regroup and sit and watch the river go by. I've got some photography work to organize and some old journals to dust off and read and ponder.

I'll head down to the AZ desert around Oct 30th and will expect to arrive the 5th of Nov, taking it leisurely and gracefully.. Snails' pace. God bless some family who are purchasing a PASSPORT AMERICA guide and membership for me that will cut my overnight fees in half! This give me great freedom to do a bit more with less.. God just keeps pouring it out. The spigot is open. Please ask His blessings on them for their generosity.

Sept 11 th - We remember.

It's takn me all day and now it's nearly midnight but now I pause and hope you might join me to remember not only the horrors of that day but also the brave men and women who were invloved- THere were so many stories that any one by iself is astonishing. It was a day for evil to ramp it up but so did our God! The help, love, courage, sacrifices that poured out and STILL pour out is a refection of His victory over sin and death. take heart. HE wins.

Well, really, really good news! It didn't rain today! First day that the clouds broke in 8 days and something called "sunshine' tickled out to meet us! Good thing. We watched Kristen play in a softball tourney from 9 am to 3:30 pm! She did a fantastic job and Moe 'n Millie enjoyed watching her! It was their first ever softball game. Quite exciting, especially if you are a Labrador Retriever! I was proud of Miller for not going out on the field. SHe is growing up, a little. Maybe! More softball tomorrow, too! Fun being with the Scarbroughs today at a family outing.

My beloved cousins (Teresa and Jerry) whisked me off to drive up to the Mt Rainer Lodge commonly known as "Paradise". We were up there late in the day and after having a bite to eat on Elbe (Yes, LB!) where the nearest toilet is a mile down the road, we ventured up the mountain. The fog was playing with us along the way so I got a few fine shots in, mostly of the twilight and sliver of moon over the Cascades. It was lovely. The lodge is spectacular with high beam ceilings, roaring fires in the fireplaces at each end and warm apple cinnamon muffins to drive for. I especially enjoyed the time with Jerr and Teresa and love them so much. Can't wait to see their adult children - Two incredible people (Christian and Gabrielle, hubby Carey)
God is good.
All the time.

And I am a dawg trainer??

Well, yes and no. The dawgs, particularly mine, seem to train me pretty well., too. It's a two way street. They also know exactly when to cause complete havoc and when to lay low. They are really great pooches and wonderful, just wonderful companions. Truth is - I'd be so lonely without them.

Last Wednesday I was headed to church for the $2.50 fried chicken dinner. I knew Michelle Stock was cooking and though I have rarely made the famous weekly dinners over the years due to working late, I was determined to get there on time and not walk in late only to find I'd missed 'a good one.' as people usually report, wiping their smiling faces with napkins..Quarter past the hour and you could be sadly outta luck. (S.O.L.)

I'm driving eastbound along the somewhat busy Lassen Lane, en route to church and just west of the cemetery when I see two very happy dogs running side by side westbound with that look of absolute freedom and contentment! Tongues hanging out, tails a waggin', lollygagging along in traffic. Cars were honking and slowing and I knew instinctively what to do. I glance at my watch. 4:50 pm. Not now! Southern fried chicken in ten minutes!

Oh well, follow the Golden Rule, Waller! I pulled over to the shoulder of the road but hurriedly so as I don't want the dogs to go past me in their galloping. I'm somewhat out in the road still but manage to set the emergency brake, tell my two dogs to 'stay' and I quickly jumped out and sweet talked the two scoundrels to come to me. I act like we are long lost friends..Fortunately, they obey and I have both hands on their collars - One is a 50 lb.female blue meryl Australian Shepherd and her running mate is a 90 pound Golden Retriever. They each have tags on and I am mindful not only of the mashed potatoes that await my fork but also that the veterinary clinic closes in about 8 minutes, as does the Siskiyou County Animal Control office. I need to know to whom these lovely creatures belong to and fast! There is no animal control officer to pick them up and well, the ARK is rather full. IS this how Noah did it? Remember our theme song "Three furry cats, two silly dogs and a parrot in an RV.."

So, picture this. My two dogs (Millie 'n Moe) are barking and whining and wanting to push past me to get out of the 4 Runner (Beehind Runner) and play. Miller Waller is a 58 lb black Labrador Retriever whom I loving call 'Millie Jordan' because she is a super athlete like Michael Jordan. Mighty Moe is a 17 lb funny looking terrier with that "I just woke up' look and seal brown eyes that are irresistible. People I know  from the community are driving by, honking and waving and probably thinking "Oh there she goes again! Gone to the dogs!" and I'm admonishing my two to 'GIT IN THAT FRONT SEAT AND STAY! STAY!" while trying to look at the license numbers of one of the five tags the two guest appearance dogs are wearing. My dogs are up front, in back, up front, in back... I'm barking commands at them while sweet talking the newbies..

The two honored guests are not really interested in getting into the car of a stranger - It's pure pandemonium. I finally get the vet clinic (where I used to work) on the cell phone and put the phone on speaker and lay it on the seat while reaching for the leashes which are between the front seats, looped around seat belts and such... I shmooshed the grime off of the tag with a hard press between my thumb and forefinger. These dogs have been around! I needed to see the ID number to locate the owner's records. Meanwhile "GIT IN THE FRONT AND STAY!"  Now I am trying to get the Aussie into the back seat (I SAID 'GIT IN THE FRONT MILLER, MOE!") and she reluctantly got in and needless to say, my two beloved pups are ecstatic. Meanwhile,  the Golden Boy will only get his paws in like a 90 lb baby... Hey, Lady! Could you lift me up, please?  Uh, no. Big baby..Just jump in!! Get your big butt up there!
He's not going for it so...No amount of encouragement nor cajoling on my part is going to convince him to jump up. OK, it's a high platform but hey, if I can do it....

Now the nervous Aussie jumps out past me, jerking my arm pretty hard- citizens pass and wave or stare.... Ugh! Jackie finally gives me the phone number of the owner while we verify the descriptions of the two escapees and I think I have it memorized and hang up but a few more bad thoughts go through my head and I can't recall it exactly..I don't want to miss the 5 pm closing time of the clinic so I strap a leash around one of the dogs outside of the SUV (MILLER,MOE! GET UP THERE!) fumble around for some paper and pen and GIT BACK UP FRONT! call Jackie back. She is gracious and gives me the number again, probably thinking I am a dim-wit BACK UP FRONT YOU TWO! Sweet Jesus, help me! It's gotta be 4:59ish...

I called the owner and ask her if she is missing two dogs and she says "No. Why?"  Well, I'm staring at an Aussie and Golden Retriever and they have your tags on them. "Oh,' she quips, "I'm in Oregon! Guess they got out!"  So, she is going to call a neighbor and I will meanwhile try to get them in the  SUV and over to her house just a few blocks, GIT IN THE CAR, MILLIE!, away .

I decide to try the passenger side of the car and bring the 140 lbs of reluctant canines with me - Hoping to have better luck on the starboard side of the rig... "No go' so I just told the Aussie not to bite me because I was going to just pick her up and place her kindly in the back seat of a car she doesn't recognize with two unruly doggies she has never seen nor smelled in her life and we have no time for introductions since they are no doubt down to the corn and salad being served by now. Maybe they'll have a few wings left! Yum! My favorite!

She was a gracious pooch, as are ALL Australian Shepherds and let me do what I needed to do and my dogs were tired of being walloped verbally a few times so they stayed in front and sniffed the air. The Golden was only going as far as his front feet so yes, since my knight in shining armor wasn't standing around, this little blonde-haired dawg trainer with a very sore neck hoisted him in, with good body posture, mind you.

I shut the door like one closes up a Jack In The Box, hoping nothing would spring open and fly out. I had a food train to catch and was hoping that at the very least, there would be bread pudding and coffee left. I was drooling by now. My taste buds were late for an appointment. My morning cereal was long gone.

Off we went in search of the owner's address that Ms. Dyslexic was trying to remember - 1431 or 1341 Pine Grove.? Oh, bother!
I called the owner of the shedding beasts again and she guided me to her house and her neighbor's house. Ah, a fenced yard with a very happy chocolate Lab who thinks that the Doggie Day Care bus had just arrived and are we going out for ice cream? I had 20 dog paws, 4 slurping tongues, 8 dilated eyes and 4 wagging tails and lots of commotion inside the good ol' red 4 Runner. Now I had to get the proper two dogs out and keep my two in..just Ok, YOU come out, No! You stay, No, YOU STAY, You come out!"  Oh goodness. What a zoo!

All went well and I nodded to the kind neighbor who was glad to see the familiar faces and I raced off to   church. I could smell the fried chicken from 3 blocks away! Watch check - 5:10pm and as I looked through the nose print designs on the front window, I could see it was going to be a long line as the parking lot was full. I raced in, zoomed into the Ladies Loo and wiped off white and blonde fur off of my new-to-me royal blue vest. No, it's not supposed to look like cashmere. Quickly, I scrubbed my hands like a surgeon, checked the mascara that had smeared and made me look like a prize fighter and yes, by golly, this is a woman ready for a decent church-cooked meal!

There is a God and there was plenty of food, smiling faces, hugs, laughter and after I sat down with my plate full of food, I thanked the good LORD for His mercy shed upon me once again. I also knew that so many times in my life people have helped me and been late for this or that commitment or even sacrificed meals completely.  LORD bless all of those who have helped me and my family over the years and yes,, LORD bless our pets, too. Keep them safe from harm. Lord, while You are at it, help me to be the person my dogs think I am.
Amen

Lesson to be learned

Well, I went out to a friend's house in the Gazelle area to return some dawg training items and pick up a check. They live up on a hillside past Scarface Road on Old West Side Road,  overlooking Shasta Valley and the view is incredible. My dogs were so excited. They love to romp around and enjoy the freedom.

I knew my friends were not at home so I was a little surprised to see an older man waving at me as I had gotten out of my 4 Runner at the back of the property. He asked (by name) if the owners were home.
Nope.
Are you their daughter? He hollers.
I laughed... He didn't have his glasses on.
Nope.
What did ya do to your neck? I went over to shake his hand and introduced myself.
Fused it over a year ago. It's still has some bad days and today is one of them.

He came over to borrow ten bucks from my friends. He's a neighbor. Nice old fellow. Rancher.
I know when God is prodding me. He needed the money for gas and doesn't get money until Friday. Hmmm. Let me preface this: I was in the EXACT SAME POSITION LAST WEEK AND CALLED A FRIEND! My account was getting too low for comfort. She responded so happily.

So, I looked in the wallet and had $7....I gave him $5..   then I felt convicted so I went back and gave him $2 more and then found three more tucked between two family photos but held on to it...
Do you like to hunt? He inquires.
Nope.
Hike?
Yep!
He invited me to hike his acreage anytime.. As we talked some, I came to find out he is also a property owner at R Ranch and happens to know my birth father That's where I am headed next. Small world.....
He headed off and said he'd pay my friends back the money. I told him it was a gift but he insisted.. OK, whatever. I know how he feels. I've been in the same predicament.

I played around with the burros for a bit, took a few snapshots and as I drove away down the long dusty driveway, I knew what I had to do... I made a left turn at the bottom of the hill instead of a right and hung another sharp left up the long 1/4 mile driveway... Henry was sitting out on a chair in between two old cars in front of his older home.
I handed him the other three greenbacks. He smiled. Thanks much. I wonder what he was thinking.

He invited me again to hike and showed me where the gates are to go up the small ridge.
Thanks, Hank...
He told me about that Labrador Retriever of his, the white one who used to be black until he was bitten by a rattler and he went blind. Henry spent 300 bucks on him, trying to save his eyesight.. The old dog is inside a fenced yard and is totally white!

"Come back and hike." he repeated... he waved warmly as I departed. I looked at his herd of Arabs and Mustangs. He cross breeds them for endurance. Beautiful and strong-looking. I'm feeling pretty selfish.

I drove off, knowing how badly I need humbling, how my heart was holding on to a few bucks because things are tight now but it's no different. God should be in charge of my money - He provides. I had about $2 left last month... We made it...by the generosity of many.

Then another thought hits me as I wipe the confessional tears away across my face. I turned the 4 Runner around again...
Back up the road. Back up to Henry sitting in the chair and the blind white barking Lab...
I handed him the Gospel of John. He was tickled pink. Said he would read it tonight..Thanks! He grinned happily, waving it in the air.

I turned my 4 Runner around, past a few old beaten up cars and trucks and there sat Henry, hands on his knees, flipping through the pages of the Gospel of John.....So engrossed he didn't wave goodbye.

I wept all the way down the dusty road. I'd been touched by an angel today. Hank.. an old man who needed ten bucks and got it from a selfish woman who held it like the chimp with it's hand inside the coconut, fisting a five dollar bill and five ones... God busted my coconut and broke my heart.
LORD Jesus, bless Henry tonight. You are indeed Jehovah-Jireh, the God Who provides..
Thank You for Your mercy and for not giving up on me.
Amen

There's no place like home...

Who said that famous quote? If you guess Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ, you got it...

I pulled in Friday to the beautiful view of Mt Shasta, leaving myself time to unhitch and get to my doctor's appt and yes, I got the ARK and 4Runner stuck behind the Nile Farm barn,- Couldn't make the turn around sharply enough. Strike two. Remember I got stuck in a cul-de-sac in Yakima? I did manage to unhitch it and then the fun began.. I went to start the 4 Runner so I could back it up and it just went clickclickclick,,, Wouldn't start!  It also set off  some sort of alarm with a red flashing light on the dash and parking lights flashing but no horn (There is a God Almighty!)  I cancelled the appt and called the tow truck for a jump after calling three mechanics about the clickclickclick and flashing lights (I sure know how to make a scene!) - Doncha know I had a dead battery! You know you are having fun when your towing company is on speed dial!

It was great, though and I just laughed and wondered what the LORD was up to - Well, I shared the Gospel of John with a gal at Les Schwab Tire after we got to talking and she overheard what I was doing (road ministry) as I chatted with the receptionist, a young girl who attends my church. So, God has His ways of getting me to where He wants me to be to share Him with people. Only He can make lemonade out of lemons. Heck, He alone can make lemons.. So, if you think of it, pray for Dianna - She's the gal that holds workshops on self healing, getting in touch with 'The Source' and so we talked about how Jesus said:

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

She was receptive to reading the Gospel of John. You know, it seems you could go through your entire life and just read and study John... So rich, so meaty, so familiar. Perhaps there is a special touch on that book of the Bible because John considered himself to be 'the disciple Jesus loved' - i.e. Jesus' best buddy.  He's one I'd like to meet. He was also the only one of the guys at the foot of the cross on that horrible Friday. John also is the only one of the 12 who lived to be old and died after writing Revelation, of course. Special guy.

It's great to be in Mt Shasta and have had the pleasure of being with extended family. I can tell there isn't enough time, already. I must tell you straight up that it was so freezing cold today that I am reminded why I will be heading out soon! I'll know more about my plans tomorrow as there may be a change in the dawg training plans. The dog may be headed back east. Oh well. I love being flexible!

I saw the doctor today after taking off a sweatshirt, flannel zip up sweater and got down to just my turtleneck, jeans and wool-blend socks...(count three layers!) and he said "So, when are you leaving?"  Smile. The north wind was howling and it is chilly, for sure. Many folks have their first fire tonight. Brrrr! I'll be out of the cold soon. It sure takes a toll. My body was meant for warm climate. I'm still keeping an eye on Florida.

For this week, I'm residing at the Nile Farm, thankfully parked on the south side of their barn so that has completely blocked the biting north wind. The ARK had some work done on it today, compliments of Scott Tift, the best of the best. I am confident he found the source of several roof leaks and a lower compartment (basement) leak. He is a jewel.

Jim and Velma and I have many wonderful memories together as I lived with them for three months in the autumn of 1983! We watched a great deal of football together and I learned quite a bit from them about lots of things both practical and spiritual. Tomorrow morning, Velm and I are going to plow through a study on Genesis 1 - 8 that she has taught over the past several years. I love them very much and appreciate this time together. They have a dog who is all heart, Buddy has three legs and is missing the outer part of his nose due to skin cancer, he's deaf and yet still pokes along. Millie found his food so now he has to have it kept up until he is in the woodshed all bundled up for nite nite. They bought him a warming blanket  to try out tonight and I've been out there to check on him.. He's learning to stay on the big dog bed and keep warm..Poor old chap. He's got a great spirit, though... There are also some sheep and cows, two cats, at least.. We are right in our element! Thanks to the Niles for allowing the ARK to land.

I've taken on the one kitty I had left at my house, hoping she would fit in with Celestine's animals but we knew it wouldn't work so Cinco is back with us in the ARK. Gotta tell you that when she heard my voice, she came RUNNING out and was so happy to see me! Separation makes the heart grow fonder.
Sing it now: 3 lazy cats, 2 silly dogs and a parrot in an RV!

Dean and Joody Taylor gave me a sign with a rainbow and ark on it that says "Noah's ARK" - It's adorable and well said!

That's all the news, up to the minute... No leaks today, praise God! So much to be thankful for.
Your prayers are much appreciated and God is faithful to answer yea, nay or wait!
TTFN,
Mrs. Noah

"Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam.."

Residing at the R Ranch outside of the booming metropolis of Hornbrook, CA, I am really tempted to put a stake in the ground here and take my boots off for awhile! IT's on the INTERNET and you can see what a lovely place it is. You've gotta be a property owner to stay and since my papa helped develop it and he has a membership, he and I split the fees and I'm in! Might as well get my money's worth and thus far, it's worth it!

Millie went in the Klamath River w9which is s stones throw away) about twenty times and Moe enjoyed just lazying around under my chair mostly/ I slept and slept and slept today, fighting off some type of intestinal bug that I think was from yesterday's roasted chicken - Got sweats, got rid of it and I feel fine tonight. Praise the LORD....

So, we walked up to the lodge and watched some football on the TV - Met two guys from down below and one guy, the retired dentist from Palo Alto, knows my beloved extended family in Mt Shasta, Roger and Carol WIlder! They attended Penninsula Bible Church. Great to meet and felowship with Believers.

Also, the guy who moved into the space next to me is from LA area and he is a Believer.. I saw his Bible out so we had a fine chat, too.. HOWVER, let me NOTE that all these gys have wives but I like the ratio and just may have to come up again in a week, once I meet som comitments in Mt Shasta!

So, on our evening walk just now, the Milky Way is in fine form!! We took the chicken to the dumpster and I located the showers and laundry facility. Now I know why people stay here year round... Pretty inviting. I'll be back, for sure. Haven't even gotten to the horseback riding or pool yet. They have clay pigeons you can whallop, too.

Guests are welcomed so if you are thus inclined, you can come up when I'm here, either for the day or overnighter. I know there are memberships for sale, too- Check Craig's list.
God blessd me on this one. I am very grateful...Easy daze ahead,
Back in MT Shasta tomorrow for a week or so...Looking forward to seeing my chums.
In His grace,
Snoozen

The leak of the day report!

Well, as it goes, yesterday's leak is worth reporting..Seems there is a new one everytime I turn around! It's not called the "ARK" for nuthin'..
So, Having driven al the way from 7 Feathers Casino RV park, which is lovely, I chose a nice spot at the R Ranch, along the Klamath River. It's prtnership/ownership deal and my father and I are members. He helped design the Ranch decades ago back in the early 70s.. IT's a great place to be and I'd like to take some down time here.
Anyway, so, I go to hookup the water and all is going along JUST FINE when I heare GUSHING water coming out the opposite side of the RV - OH NO!!
I run around and it's pouring out of the basement door like there is a BIG leak! I ran inside, got past all the animalls and had to shut thedoor so as to not lose a black cat (Cuatro).. The plug in the bathroom sink had inadvertantly closed and something had opened the cold water handle just enough to have my CUP RUNNETH OVER again! So, there was water everywhere but fortunately, it was all running out of the coach and not into the flooring. I think it will dry out just fine and just gave it all a good washing. AGAIN...

Oh my goodness! If it ain't one thang, it's another.
Had a real meal of roasted chicken, yams, corn, all bought from Ray's in Phoenix, Oregon. It tasted SO good! IT think it's being back in the mountains and out of the city.. We had to lock ourselves in a shut off the lights due to a major tiny bug infestation that happens here at night. I remember the no see 'ums from our last visit here on the first night of our voyage. This time the bugs were larger and flying things. Even still, it was nigh unto midnight before we ducked under the covers.

I'll take a few days here, I suspect, before heading to Mt Shasta. It's just so lovely and easy. I'm glad to be back home, as always. Back where the Garmin is wrong and I know better!

Thanks for adventuring with me. It's a great time. God is good, all the time. It's wonderful to witness His working and be a part of His desires to love the world to Himself.

What happens on the ARK, stays on the ARK!"

I know you like these leaking water stories...Well, I forgot to write about another one today..It's late. My old cat Kikipeepee gets up on my lap around midnight and wants to be petted, stroked and brushed. I think she has 'Sundowner's Alz' because she sleeps all day, to the swaying of the ARK, and is up at midnight, the ONLY one awake with me every night! Not bad for an 18 yr old..Us two old farts!

Anyway, picture this. We pull into a quiet state park in Washington and some of the parks have a dump station so you can get rid of your black and gray water very conveniently and for about $5..Honor system. Thought we'd try it out today. It's lunchtime so let's pull over.

I got the bright idea to really, really rinse out the toilet with the local hose that wasn't being used (a tip from Pam) and let me preface this by saying that I have one black ten year old cat who is the only one I worry may bolt out the side door one of these days. She likes to hide in the bathroom inside the clean igloo litter box when I drive. Makes a girl feel safe, I guess. Anywho, I decide to turn on the hose, after I am hooked up to the dump hole outside and crimp the hose, bring it in the side door and open the bathroom door a crack. Ok, Cuatro is in her igloo. For now...

Being the multi-tasker I have been infamous for, I put the hose down the toilet, stepping on the lever that opens the trap door so it will run full open. I notice that we had a spillage of acidophyllus tablets during my driving jaunt and I'll pick them up WHILE keeping an eye on the cat. She slips out momentarily and I managed to grab her while still having my foot on the lever. The water is running and flushing out the toilet like it should. All systems go! Then I noticed that I need to clean out the litter box, so Cuatro can have fresh bedding so I get out the pooper scooper and start in my project, one foot still on the lever and just finished with the last squished tablet in the trash when the cat gets out into the hallway again! This time I see her moving towards the door and Washingtonian freedom so I fly out of the bathroom and grab her, thank God, oops! I forgot the lever! The toilet is now OVERFLOWING (Yes, my cup and toilet runneth over!) so I multitask again by opening the toilet seat lid, stepping on the lever, throwing the cat in the igloo and crimping the hose - Got a few sopped towels out of the deal and it just seems that we are SOOOO appropriately named "The ARK" that I wondered again if Mr.or Mrs. Noah ever had such things happen. I had a book behind the toilet, Jim Harriet Veterinary Stories, to block my Cuatro from going down this little compartment. It's wet but not ruined, I don't think... Ugh! You know, Scriptures tells us NOTHING about what happened on the ARK except when Noah wanted to let the birdies fly and discover land. I think they all had a pact - What happens on the ARK, stays on the ARK!"

Goodnight... From Kikipeepee and me

Land of milk and honey!

Phewie! I dunno where the time goes but it is flying by. Seems every minute is filled with something and I flop into bed with my critters surrounding me after a very full day... If it's cold, I get a two dog, two cat night. Isaac D'Byrd sleeps in his mini RV travel cage and fends for himself. Some mornings it's been a bit nippy, for sure.

Highlights of Yakima (Wack him, Ma!) - Saw the 2 1/2 hr parade to open the state fair. It was great with lots of bands, some dancing horses, lots of politicians (about every third float or car was a politician or wanna be!).. The highlight was taking photos of my friend Susie and her grandson who is all of two or less waving and stuffing candy in his mouth and waving some more!. She was in G'ma Heaven.. The sun was out even though the morning had a bit of a chill, following yes, you guessed it, A DAY OF RAIN! I am beginning to feel like Pig Pen only it's a cloud of rain over my head and not dirt. "Oh,' they chortle "it is always nice and sunny here this time of year!"... uh-huh, sure!

Sue was true to her calling by making a few incredible meals - Clametti (spaghetti pasta with clams and olive oil, garlic) and cioppino. It;s always a culinary delight to be with her and she is one of the two best cooks I know in the world. She hopes to have her own professional kitchen someday and we've discussed ideas about how she can earn a fine living by repairing meals for folks like tired teachers on Friday nights and have it in their house, all ready to go.. Wouldn't that be sweet?  She can do it, too. She has that gift of looking in a common fridge and popping out a gourmet meal in 30 minutes or less..

Sunday worship at her church was great, this follows a marvelous Bible study on Weds led by Pastor Jim, who certainly has the gift of teaching. Sunday he taught on the word and concept/condition of holiness. God says "Be holy for I am holy." Powerful message. One I will take with me forever. Great people, warm hearted and genuine...I was blessed. Lindsey (18) accompanied us as did Sue's baby granddaughter dressed in a salmon or pinkish dress. Raise up a child in the way they should go and when they are old, they shall not depart from it!

Sunday evening, Sue's man friend took us to a fight and a hockey game broke out! IT was great fun and nice to have someone explain the game to me. Syd hails from where else but... Minnesoooota.! It was a fast moving game and a couple of bloody noses to boot! The funny thing was what you might call the seventh inning stretch and all the boys took their t shits off and waved them in circles above their heads. One little guy with red shorts on had a particularly good swing of his hips liked he was BORN to do that! The home team won and the crowd was in fine spirits.

I headed out of Yakima this morning to blue skies and 80 F!!! I cannot believe it! It was the warmest day in over a month and just fine. No leaks. Well, until tonight. I'll get to that in a minute..

Had a lushious drive along the Columbia River Gorge - First time I've driven it in good weather and not in winter! We cruised along and it was very relaxing. Millie smelled the river and wanted to go in so badly, poor dear! We stopped often and played, ate ice cream and looked at the views.. Just beautiful..

Back to the leaks... I'm just outside of Portland at my friend Mare's daughter's house and we hit a few good speed bumps that the driver of the ARK didn't know were there and everything, I mean EVERYTHING must've gone up in the air at least a foot or more! Whamo!  Anyway, we parked on the street in a residential section, Moe 'n Mill had a blast in their backyard. Miller popped a soccer ball straight away and Moe found what I think was leftover from Mr or Mrs Racoon's visit from last night... MMM Good!  Just as good as Kitty Rocha, maybe.

After a terrific dinner of tacos (the small authentic wagon tacos), tons of corn on the cob (Miss Piggy Waller) and fine fellowship with two of Mary Del Carlo's three kids, I came out to the ARK, visited with Mare (sold a photo!) and sat to have my quiet time... I looked at the screen on the window and see a long drip. Long. OK, now what? It's gooey. I bravely taste it. Sweet like.....HONEY! OH NO! Yep, the honey had spilled over during my flying leap over the speed bump and jostled the cap off the cute little bear and here's desert for ya! It is the land of milk and honey!  It's now on the table, under a basket it was in, the floor of the cupboard is sticky...There is a Scripture that says "Thy WORD is like honeycomb".... I nearly got it on the Bible but it is safe and clean. SO, the ARK goes through another leak, only this times it's a sweet thang!

Off we go to the R Ranch in Hornbrook for two days of downtime, I think. I never know what He has planned. I just report for duty and hope and pray for fine weather.

Taking 'er easy... God is good, all the time.
All the time, God is good. Heading south....Bring on the warmth! Bring on His plans! Keep me out of cul-de-sacs...
The Onan Generator has a mind of it's (his) own/.Doesn't want to work when I am parked but works when I get on the highway. Go figure. Between Mr. Garmin and Mr. Onan, I seem to have challenges from both of them -Can't live WITH 'em, can't live without 'em...

Thanks for praying. LORD knows we need it. See you soon, wherever you are.
Love in Christ,
Susan

Yakima (Wakima) and sunshine!

So,

We drove n the rain until 3:18 pm when it quit, just past nearly snowing Snoqualamie Summit where I stopped to warm up and get coffee and a sinful cinnamon roll with icing melted all over it. No, I didn't share it with the critters in the ARK. They didn't offer me any of their food so.... there.
Down the hill we went into the sunny Yakima Valley! WOW! No wonder they are growing some fabulous wines here!!!  THE SUN IS OUT!!!!!

I followed my Australian GPS Mr Garmin, as I call him, and he led me up this hill and into a cul-de-sac! Yes! That's right! Picture the entire rig and runner and me trying to turn, inch it along and not hit the Subaru in front of me. Can we make it? I am out of the ARK, eyeballing how much room I have, then in the ARK, inching along, then out, then in... all in sunshine, mind you! I finally succumbed to the inevitable. We are stuck. Now, this doesn't bother me because I have food, drink and a loo on board and could survive for weeks if need be.Like a traveling survival rig! I just felt rather silly and hoped the person with the Subie was at the house at the end of the cul-de-sac. She was. She and her newlywed hubby came out to help, God love 'em. They laughed and thought it was pretty entertaining.

I unhitched the Beehind Runner and we backed the ARK up and got it squared away. I gave them the Gospel of John and asked how I might pray for them. They looked at each other and wifey offered that hubby was driving two and a half hours a day ONE WAY to Tacoma to work in a specialized factory for Boeing - high end engineering specialty and needs a job here in Yakima.. Wifey cleans toilets two days a week for a pretty penny so I guess they don't want to move. I didn't ask BUT we had a time of prayer and encouragement. They were thankful for the Gospel and I know God will use it for His glory and to help them through this tough time.

My chum, Suz (yes, another Susan, Suz, Sue, Susie - There are four of us! That's why I am 'Sooz') came to lead me down the hill - SHe actually worked just within spittin' distance of where we were trapped on the hill. I could see her office! So, when Mr Garmin started out from the trap, he led me straight to Sue's house! He knew it all along. So, here's my take on it. It was an intentional goof up, ordained by God to encourage this couple and have us pray together. Bless their hearts! Isn't that just like God? Hallelujah! Let me hear an 'Amen!"

I've taken a nap in the sunshine in the ARK with the kitties and dogs draped all over me. We are nearly fighting for sunny space but it's congenial and cohesive. I'm glad to visit my pal, Sue and give her some encouragement. Not sure what our plans are except to do some wine tasting on Rattlesnake Ridge where there are 17 wineries! ZOWIE! They also have a county fair here on Friday so perhaps there will be some more Wrangler butts to eyeball.  We'll see what the week brings. The important thing is to just spend time together....

I'll be here a week and then head back to R Ranch, Mt Shasta for awhile. Need to fix some leaks on the ARK - Guess I should have followed the recipe for tarring it in the Bible. Worked for Noah.

Read Isaiah 35:8 - 10.. Highway to Heaven.. Guess we are on it. Hope you are, too!
Much love,
Sooz

Sept 11 - 19 News and Views

Well now, needless to say, there have been days when I just didn't feel like writing on the blog. Reminds me too much of homework so, don't be surprised if I don't write much. I found I was neglecting my dear friend, Journal. Been writing and pourin out there since I was 19.

I forced myself to leave the enjoyment of being with the Scarbroughs in Buckley, at the base of Mt Rainer which is a Houdini of a mountain. I only saw her three times, I think. Mostly shrouded in clouds. She is an astonishing volcano and stands about 500 feet higher than our Mt Shasta. I went with my cousins up to the lodge and saw glimpses of the summit here and there. don't blink or you'll miss it. The scenic drive was lovely and the story to report has just a few items of interest:
1) The town of ELBE (pronounced L-B) has no public bathroom, as announced to me by the woman in the burger shack, a tiny log cabin that produces burgers, shakes, fries and I had ice cream! So, since she said we would have to backtrack 1 1/2 miles to the next town, I did what all seasoned travelers do. I found an abandoned building and went behind it where I am sure tens of millions of people have done and did my business.... So, prepare yourself in advance if you are ever in ELBE... or BYOB (Bring your own bathroom in your RV) .
2) The rebuilt lodge is something to behold. Overnight accommodations are just over $100 for a room and the food is reasonably priced with a view that is incredible. I would expect to pay three times what they offer. Sometime Cuz Teresa and I will head up there for a few days.
3) John Muir Special (Hot choc and peppermint schnapps) in front of the fire in the lodge was a real treat. It was cold and seemed fully like autumn was upon us. Great place to lounge and enjoy present company - Jerry and Teresa are some of my favorite people and our time was special, for sure.

Back to Buckley where it rained and rained and rained. Had it not been for some fam and friends in the area, I'd be heading off to the desert in AZ. On Saturday last I drove to Seattle and it didn't rain! My adopted niece 'AJ' Regalia is attending cosmetology school in downtown so I lugged through traffic in one of the most beautiful big cities in America and the view was spectacular...It was an emotional moment to see Ally in her element, her niche. She has always had it in her to do this hair biz and I was glad to participate in one of her ten short cuts she must do for her certification. I am so proud of her and she looks, talks, acts just like a pro!
It was cute - She had to change her name to "Leyla' because there is another Allison so when I called her "AJ", her co-worker asked who I was. "Oh, she's my Auntie Susie!"  The gal said she thought we were family because we laughed the same!   Gotta love it. Yes, AJ's mom and I share the same funny bone...It makes me feel so good to be with family like that. God is good to provide.

We had lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant and ate Pho soup - I pronounce it wrong, though. Looks like Poo but I think it's Puh... Anyway, it's dee-lish! AJ took me to lunch and that is a first for her. All those adult things now.... What a blessing.

After that wonderful experience and terrific neck and head massage and darling haircut, I took off to see my adopted nephew, Scotty 'Scooter' Rodriguez and his wife Kt and two kids, Elijah (10) and Ava (2) - It didn't rain until the football game was over so we were praising God for that one, too! It's great to see these young adults as adults. I remember before they were even born and now look at 'em! It was a sweet time of fellowship. I love them all so much. The kids were enthralled with Isaac, Mill 'n Moe and I'm sure they won't remember me much but as always, Isaac steals the show!

Back in Buckley, I took the dogs to Deep Lake at Nolte State Park and Millie went in swimming, therpay jacket and all!. Not sure if I already posted this but it was great fun for her. She is so athletic and needs to get out and run, play etc. nearly every day. You know, since she was brought into my life five years ago, she has had to adapt to those days, weeks and months when I couldn't be very active and sometimes she wouldn't get a walk for four or five days. For a high powered super athletic Labrador, she really has her mellow side and I am so thankful and proud of her. Now MOe is easy-peasy, no matter what. He just isn't too good at coming when he is called and Mills and I have to frequently wait for him so he spends more time on the leash. They are wonderful and love to go and do whatever I have up my sleeve. Especially if it is an ice cream. I am addicted. Ice Cream Eaters Anonymous, where are you?

Last Sunday was a tremendous time of rich worship and great message out of Colossians 3:13- I couldn't help but cry for thankfulness at His goodness and mercy poured out on me. He is awesome indeed. Great to worship with my sister in Christ, Chris. I will miss her so much. It was great to spend over two weeks with her. We both burst out in tears on Saturday en route to Starbuck's (her addiction!) and thanked God for giving us time together. I told her they will have to come and meet me somewhere warm and non-raining, next trip! She and her hubby are such wonderful people... Did my heart good.

I ventured to Auburn Sunday after church to have lunch with Teresa and Jerry. Saw hail, lightening, rain and sun all within about ten minutes. Y'all can have the Pacific Northwest. It ain't my calling. The suffering was worth it, though. Seeing their teacher daughter in her high school was great. I missed catching up to their son, Christian, who is Mr Talent in theater and performing arts. Boo hoo. They have a great family and stay strong in the LORD.

Sunday night (in the rain) Chris and Wayne wanted to put gas in the ARK as a gift (Oh, THANK YOU LORD GOD!!!) so we went down to the gas station. You won't believe it. Couldn't get the locking gas cap off. No key. The guy who tightened it in Oregon must've tightened it too much. We finally drove home after calling my towing company and theirs to no avail. I finally got on the Internet and got my channel locks and after praying again, Wayne yanked it off! Praise God! So, Chris and I went back to the station and filled 'er up at ten pmish. Gulp, gulp. Please pray God's blessings on them for their generosity and grace.I was stunned at their insistent offer. My goodness. That oughta get me back to Calif..I just can't turn that cap on tightly. Guess I need to get a new one, one of these days. God is good, all the time.

Monday I left Buckley in the pouring rain after hitching up the 4 runner (Now dubbed the bee-hind runner) by myself! I knew I could do it. It might take a little longer but I hate to be dependent on anyone. Since the neighbor who was going to wake up after his graveyard shift hadn't shown up yet and I was ready to hit the road, I just kept maneuvering until I had her lined up.. Went through two pairs of wet socks and shoes... Guess I need waders if I am going to be up here much longer!
I'll ct it off here because you are probably tired of reading and I need a new posting for a new chapter in my blog...
Say goodbye to Buckley and the great 17 days we had there.

Puyallup Rodeo yesterday

Well, needless to say, them Wrangler butts STILL drive me nuts! Ha! Doesn't matter what state, town, rodeo. Does a girl's heart good.
Great rodeo and I was glad to get out and stretch after being stuck in traffic for over an hour in downtown Puyallup, Washington. Can't hardly say the name, let alone find the RED parking lot!
Moe n' Mill stayed in the 4 Runner while I enjoyed the foot stompin' and mud slingin' for three hours. Saw a few good ride but the bulls were a bit tame compared to some I've seen. Got some fine photos of guys laying back so far on the horse or bull that it truly looks like they are lying down, face up! I think they are just looking to Heaven for some mercy and thinkin' "Oh LORD, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz? My friends all ride horses, I must make amends."

There is a God!
Lots and lots of booths as it's a large fair that lasts for several weeks, the pride of the Western States, come to find out. I met two old cowboys who are artists and put out some excellent paintings. I couldn't bring myself to take a photo of their work but it's great. Can't think of their names just now. Frank Owens?

Anyway, it was a great day and it just sprinkled some so I hope the rain is past us for now.

Rain, rain go away...

Sounds corny but as my 'nephew' Jaron says to me "Welcome to the Pacific Northwest!" Yep... They don't call this RV 'The Ark' for nuthin;.  We are doing great and have only a few leaks into a few of the basement compartments and that will have to come under strict investigation, I suppose. Can't have that.It cleared off a wee bit today and stopped raining log enough for me to check down under and rearrange a few things and clean out the ARK. A job I'm sure Mrs Noah had help with.

Looking forward to going Friday to the Puyallup Fair and rodeo. They run the livestock down Main Street so my camera will be busy and hoping to get some fun shots at the afternoon rodeo, too! Some schools in the state close down for the special fair here. Guess it's really a big deal. I just know I need a good dose of cowboys. You know what they say "Wrangler butts drive me nuts!".  Yes, there is still life in the ol' gal yet!

John 10:10 Living the abundant life on this end. Sometimes that is jsut a great cup f coffee and sometimes it's going to the rodeo. All good things come from His hands.

No Labor on Labor Day!

Cloudy here - I'm sure my bnes are commenting that the barometer is dropping and rain is forthcoming!
Chris and I made it to Starbucks (of course) and her classroom for some final preps before them little buggars come racing in tomorrow. They start their school year after Labor Day up here. She teaches at a first rate school and will have about 21 kids in her class. We talked to the new and (good lookin'!) principal whose gotta be all of 40! Chris wants me to bring my pups and parrot to her class as she has a boy who hs chosen to be mute due to some trama in his life and another child who is autistic. He is very much in favor and will check with the powers that be. So, we may end up volunteering some there, too.

We did some shopping and I saw a little more of the countryside. It's really lovely here and lush. There are still streams and creeks with water and I'm sure it is really gorgeous when the sun is out. The forecast is for rain then clearing so Ilook forward to getting out into it.

The ARK encountered her first real rain and we had two small leaks that I am aware of. Wayne and I put up a plastic sheet and car mat over one so I'll be caulking them, if I can find them. Not bad! I'm so glad Scott Tift spent three hous up there patching and painting the roof! We were cozy warm after a great dinner of chicken and dumplings and another nap ensued.

Thus ends summer....Shortest one I ever recall. I'm starving for sunshine and heat!
I love spending time with the Scarbroughs and it'sso good HAVE time to spend instead of us rushing off to other commitments. I could like this lifestyle.
God is good, all the time.

Sunday, the day of rest!

Slept well and arm and toasty in our little ARK. Why is it always hard to get up on a Sunday? Off to church we went and I'm so glad we did! Wabash Christian Church was full, warm and had great worship and an excellent message by a visiting pastor. You could pray for him as he is out of work. He had to close a church down "for the good of the Kingdom' is what he shared with me as he and I prayed together after the service. Bless his heart. The message was on Luke 10 - Good Samaritan and how we often travel the dangerous roads of life and find many along the side if the road. What will be our response?

Chris is addicted to Starbuck's so we have been there daily for her cafe mocha no whip double hot whatever... I bought ONE the first day and had a piece of pound cake, all for almost seven bucks so that was my splurge for the year! Ha! Starbuck's is brilliant. Created their own culture, vernacular, preying on people's legal addictions to caffeine and or sugar- and charge gobs for it! It's good, granted but ZOWIE! It's pricey.

Lazied around and napped, ate and slept. What else is there on a Sunday?

Labor Day Weekend in th Pacific Northwest

Saturday was g and cloudy, the threat of rain loomed over us but out we went to the Farmer's Market at a local elementary school out in the rolling countryside. We quickly met Chris' friends and two yr old daughter, an adoptee from Ukraine. She is an adorable, tall blond-haired smiling and laughing bundle who goes up to anyone with two arms upwards, making fists for the universal indication "Uppy - Uppy!". She walked into the Market twice with people she didn't know!
We took Millie and Moe with us and within a few moments of arriving, two sweatshirted and bright-eyed high school girls came over to 'dog sit' them at their booth while we shopped. A brilliant idea to allow people to have their pets there and not just be tied to the fence. I peeked at my 'children' to see how they were doing and one girl was playing with Moe's hair, as usual and the other gal was having Millie twirl right, then twirl left and then chase a soon to be shredded paper cup. I'm not sure who was happier with the arrangement but both parties had taken a fancy to each other and seemed delighted. This brings me great joy.

We purchased some lovely produce at the little market and it is a region that is rather lush, needless to say. I tasted some delicious chocolate honey but resisted knowing I'd sit down and eat the entire jar, as would Wayne. We'd have to fight over it.

Then we drove to a blueberry orchard where Bob and Jo have acres of blueberries - Really nice folks and you pick your own. Millie went with us with her pet therapy vest on and she ended up being walked by an autistic young boy then a Ukrainian/Russian girl who grinned ear to ear! Mill was in Dawg Heaven during the entire time and was very careful to pace herself to the needs of the child. It was so endearing. We talked for quite awhile with the parents of the autistic boy and they were thinking about getting him a dog and I think Millie sealed it for them. The boy was so responsive to her. We just want to make people smile on our adventure.

We picked blueberries like crazy for over an hour as Bob let us stay after hours, bless! Miller laid on the ground and ate the ones we dropped. I imagine she will be oxidized through and through by the time that goes through! Ha!

Millie ended up injuring her foot somehow during the day and was limping on it more and more so she was confined to the leash and the ARK for the rest of the evening, poor dear. Not sure how that happened. When you play, you pay.. She's the Michael Jordan of black labs. 'Miller Jordan' is her new nick-name!

We had a yummy blueberry crunch cobbler for dessert after grilled chicken, fresh corn on the cob and a dee-lish salad, all from the days work (except the fowl!) - Well done and very much fun! We all crashed out early and slept like logs... er... dawgs!

The LORD is good.

Where were YOU in 1976?

Well now, on this day,Sept 5th in 1976 my three musketeers friends (Noo, Yoyo and Bug Mavaro) climbed Mt Shasta for a memorable time 'way back when. Life was very different in some ways. We were young. Our motto for the climb was "We eat nails!" Now it's "We eat snails"... - escargot, to be exact. Well, I eat escargot. I don't think Noo or Yo would try them. Bug has gone on to be with Jesus so she's at THEE BANQUET TABLE of all tables. If you lie butter, garlic and escargot, it will be there for you but I'm sure you can pass that up in the buffet line, if you wish.

So, we are in Buckley, Washington near MT Rainer at my long time extended family's home - Wayne and Chris Scarbrough and their two incredible teenage kids, Kristen and Jaron. The biggest adjustment is their neurotic dog, Tillie ain't too keen on the arrival of the furried and feathered citizens of the ARK, though she is getting used to Mighty Moe (my terrier). Miller hurt her paw at the Farmer's Market yesterday so she is on the injured reserve list and not able to go out walking with Tillie and Moe. That's all good and well for Tillie, but poor Mill has a long face about it. Tillie freaked out when Isaac told her to sit and stay so Tillie has little contact with Isaac D'Byrd. She barks incessantly trying to alert her fam that there is not just a bird in the house but a TALKING bird who is trying to boss her around. Poor Tillie. I don't think her life will ever be the same.

The weather is cool for this time of year and expected to perk up a bit during the week. It's so pretty here in the countryside and I can see why so many folks I know live in the Pacific Northwest. IF it were in the 80s most of the time, I'd be here but hey, you can't have it all!

Church was great - Sermon was on being the Good Samaritan (who represents Jesus in this parable) - He came to heal and help the broken down, beaten up folks others would pass by. Not only that but, in the end of the parable he states "I will return again in a few days. Luke 10:29-35...
Maranatha. Come LORD Jesus and meanwhile, we'll look for opportunities to help others along the perilous road of life.
Be well. Be good. Have fun.

The ARK sets sail!

It's day 3 of our adventure and one thing I can tell you is that we are covering ground at a snail's pace! Talk  about my life pace coming to  screeching halt, er.. crawl! Yep. And you know what? It's just fine with me.

I'm behind in my blogging so I'll just give you the nutshell version:

Day 1 - Left Mt Shasta to hugs from Yoshi, Pam and Larry rather late in the afternoon but who cares? Ended up at the lovely R Ranch in Hornbrook. If you are not familiar with it, it's a membership ranch and here's a mind blower. My birth papa helped develop that in the early 1970s and  OK, since you know my familial history, just think about putting together the pieces of the blessing of me being able to sit right next to the Klamath River on my first night out on the GREAT ADVENTURE!   I shall preface this by telling you that I stopped at the store in Hornbrook (out in the tulies) and made sure I was on the right road since I was coming from a different directions and didn't want to turn the ARK and La Rosa around on a thin road.. Yes, I was headed east. I ran into a gal I know from Mt Shasta whom I hadn't seen for a very, very long time. In fact, I didn't recognize her at first since she has lost a fair amount of weight. What are the chances of that happening? So, I head back out to the ARK and the driver's door is locked!  Ugh! I thought I had fixed that! I had secured the passenger door tightly so it wouldn't fly open and well, guess who forgot to get the hide-a-key?   Just gotta pray and figure out how to get in. Well, when we started out, I had cracked open the passenger side window and I remembered that the gal I bought her from had exclaimed that 'Even the screen slides!" when we test drove her back in late June. Hahaha! The brain is working overtime and the spirit is rejoicing! Julie and her male friend hoisted me up and up and I wedged my fat butt through that little window, much to the delight of Millie and Moe who were all over me while Isaac (who is on the engine console) is saying "SIT! STAY!  include here  both wolf whistles and making flatulence noises!)  Oh my gosh! We were laughing so hard! So, this is how it will go? My God has a great sense of humor!

Now there is a hide-a-key!The door still is locked since I broke the button trying to get it to release but oh well...

- Few people are at the R Ranch since school is back in session and Millie thinks we are now in Dawg Heaven! I could not completely emotionally and spiritally fathom the great blessing it is to start our our voyage in the ARK on this property. Talk about full circle! We slept to the sound of the river babbling past and it was music to my ears. Had some deer come down for the buffet style grass and took a few photos.

Day 2
Got cold in the early dawn, though so I turned on the furnace, which had been working until then and I went back to sleep with it blowing cold air as it wouldn't ignite, thank God. I found out later in the day at an RV repair shop that we could've 'bit the big one', had it lit and we were breathing that stuff. Isaac was still upright so we were OK.

I had a chance to meet Brad and his puppy (Siskiyou) from San Jose. Shared the LORD's love with him and hopefully gave him some encouragement after his heart had broken six years ago when his fiancee passed away suddenly. We talked for a few hours. He wants to 'come home' to the LORD and God has been talking to him about restoring their relationship so we prayed together and I am hoping he'll head to church - He had attended the same church where I took my brother Mark a few years ago! It's a fine place for ministry. Praise God.

We headed to Canyonville and stayed at 7 Feathers Casino RV park and I hit the hot tub by 915 pm and thought I had died and gone to hot tub heaven! It was great and what a lovely RV park! I rarely gamble (unless Patty Anne gives me a ten spot) so I just took the shuttle down to get a bite to eat and look at the men in the Sport's Bar ~  the park is really nice and we slept like logs! I mean 'dogs'....

Day 3, we have landed in Albany, Oregon and all the critters are sacked out and I'm beat. Had a few stops along the way, like one to check to see if I really did accidentally leave the emergency brake on in La Rosa, the 4 runner. Yes, LORD, I am listening. Thank You for the reminder! By the way, the gal at the Blue Ox RV park trained race horses down in Ridgecrest and we talked about how wonderful horses are,,,,,
So, it should be a restful and quiet night. No dancing on tables at casinos or any other such nonsense!

I've given it a great deal of thought about how Noah and his family kept busy with all the animals on the ARK and wonder if they had a motley looking terrier cross (Mighty Moe) for a co-pilot in the passenger seat, Miller the Wonder Dawg who curls up below him and waits for the next rest stop for play time. Kikipeepee, my 18 yr old senior citizen cat who sleeps to the lull of the engine and sway of the ship - Cuatro, my black kitty who found her niche curled up inside the cat box igloo locked in the loo and Isaac D'Byrd who travels well in his little RV cage and makes wolf whistles when we stop for gas or repairs. I ALWAYS have to say "It's not me! "

So it goes. My focus Scripture of the week: Job 26:7 He hangs the earth on nothing.

On we go. Thanks for prayin'... Wish you were here. We expect to be in Buckley near Seattle at the Scarbrough's tomorrow, LORD willin'... No rush. It takes awhile to get this boat on the road!
